I was inspired to paint this extra large piece after seeing a photo of the Milky Way, taken on a dark night from one of the Outer Banks islands off of the NC coast. If you cross over the dunes at night, to go to the beach, sometimes the night sky is absolutely amazing.
North Carolina is a long lovely, horizontal state. My hubby and I live in the western part, in the Blue Ridge Mountains. We love it here, and think it is so beautiful. Equally appealing is the eastern end of the state, with the stretch of barrier islands in the Atlantic Ocean , called the Outer Banks or as the locals call it, OBX.
I call this painting an abstract, as it is not meant to look perfectly realistic. This morning I had this painting out, as I am getting ready for an art show. Our plumber was here to work on a leaking faucet, and he saw the painting and said, "Is that the Milky Way?! Wow, I like it!" I like how it turned out- guess he did, too. :)
This painting is for sale, with shipping and handling extra, unless you live within 50 miles of me, the artist, and if that is the case, then I will bring it to you at no charge. If my hubby is available, he will come with me and hang it for you- also free of charge, if you are in the 50 mile range.
It is gallery wrapped (the canvas goes all the way around to the back of the wood stretchers.) It is painted on the sides a dark, deep navy blue and it is framed in a dark blue wood floating frame (the frame is not shown in the photo.) It is wired and ready to hang. It is 4' wide, and 5' tall, plus another 2" each way for the frame, so quite large. Thank you so much for your interest in my art. Adonna
