A large square diptych (2 part) painting. Acrylic on 2 canvases. I painted this work after I saw a news story on a spreading California wildfire, a number of years ago. I feel in awe of people who lose everything and when a reporter asks them about losing their home, they invariably say, "We are all safe. That's what matters."
The owner of this painting has become a good friend of mine, and I treasure his friendship. Several years after he bought this painting, he, too, lost his home, not to fire, but to the flooding in Hurricane Harvey in Houston. He called to let me know that among the valuables he was able to take, that he had saved my painting. It broke my heart that he had lost so much.
I am now happy to report that he has found a special person with whom to share his life. They have bought a new home together in Houston and are moving forward, together, with their lives. Their new home has never flooded. Private collection in Houston, TX.
Thanks you for your interest in my art. Adonna
