Hurricane Katrina; Tragedy & Triumph
I was raised in Louisiana and was profoundly moved by the photos of all the desparate New Orleans' people, stranded after Hurricane Katrina, in September of 2005. I painted this man, bringing a small baby out through waist-high water, with the water filled with floating trash. I was taking a college painting class when I did this. A professor at the college saw it and wanted to buy it (and did) for his private collection. (Houston, TX.)
